The Zwickau region has just what children but also parents enjoy at any time of year and in any weathers. If it’s cold and rainy, a visit to the go-cart track or an indoor playground is an idea. If the sun is shining and you want an adventure, you can go kayaking or climbing, for example.
The selection is so great that it’s not difficult to organise your free time to be packed with variety.
The theme park in Lengenfeld is something really special for children. It offers about 80 attractions. From the magical fairytale land for the smallest to thrills on East Germany’s highest and fastest wooden roller coaster, the “El Toro”, there is plenty for all ages to discover.
You can also play mini golf in bad weather at the indoor mini golf course in Eibenstock. The holes with different levels of difficulty have additional obstacles that give players an extra challenge.
The Knopffabrik in Zwickau has a climbing area that invites you to practise and give it a go. The maximum climbing height is 22 metres over a total climbing area of 740 m². Children and adults can experience the climbing wall, themselves and the community spirit here as well as learning to act on their own.
The Hirschfeld wildlife park allows you to get up close to animals in a petting zoo. It also has a playground. This wildlife park has a colourful mixture of domestic and exotic animals such as red deer, red foxes, bears, porcupines, birds of prey, mouflon wild sheep and much more over an area of 23 hectares. The park also has a monkey house with sacred baboons, vervet monkeys and moor macaques as well as the “Polaris” enclosure with snowy owls and polar foxes.
Observatories, like the Zwickau observatory, bring the sky and faraway galaxies close enough for us to touch. In good weather visitors can take a look through the telescope and see the sun, moon, Venus & co. As it is totally dark in the observatory this may be scary for toddlers. We therefore only recommend visiting with children once they are of school age.
